I slowly stepped off the bus and stretched out my arms. That ride was way to long and way to gross. Some old habits die hard, I was still used to my first class lifestyle, not crammed at the back of a bus, next to a smelly old man, snoring and drooling next to me. I grabbed my backpack and threw it over my left shoulder, it was pretty sad when you could pack your entire life into one bag. I took in a deep breath and let out a small sigh “So this is Port Charles?” I whispered to myself under my breath.
I looked to my left, then to my right. Here I was, in some small town, with hardly any money, not knowing a single person and having no clue where to go. “What the hell was I thinking!?” I asked myself. I was a New York City girl and definitely knew how to take care of myself, but this now seemed like a totally crazy and stupid idea. I looked back at the bus station, I could still go back if I wanted to...
“Excuse me miss? you look lost” I quickly jumped, startled by the voice of someone else. “Umm...” I hesitated at first, but I knew I had come too far and had nothing to go back to “Yeah, do you know anywhere I could rent a room for cheap?” I asked the stranger standing in front of me. “You must be new here? There’s a place called Kellys down the street and to your right, they offer rooms upstairs for minimal cost” he replied. I thanked him then continued on my journey in the direction he pointed me.
I came across the small diner, and sure enough, the man was right. Two signs were posted on the window “Rooms for Rent” and even a “Help Wanted” sign, perfect, I could kill two birds with one stone. I walked up to one of the waitresses behind the counter and asked for a room and application. She took me upstairs and gave me a small tour of the room. It was basic, a bed, a window, a bathroom. Definitely not like my room back home, but it would do for the time being. I took the keys, thanked her then followed her back downstairs. I took a seat at a small table in the corner waiting for my coffee as I began to fill out the application.

Nathaniel walked into Kelly's, walking in long strides to the counter. He had this air of confidence, or arrogance rather, about him. He hadn't always had it, but once his mother was out of the picture, his father could raise him the way he pleased. Nathaniel was taught to believe that the good looking had it better, and the ugly were not worthy of his time. "I'll have a coffee," He stated, already placing a few dollar bills on the counter. He didn't look directly at the person, already having his back to them as he leaned against the counter and observed the people in the small diner. He wasn't taught manners. He wasn't really taught anything other than to follow in his father's footsteps.
Not to say that he didn't do anything for himself. He enjoyed cooking, his father didn't even know about that one. When he was younger he would make cookies with his nanny and the love for it just stuck. He wasn't flirting with girls and partying for his father either. That was all his. As he continued to scan the room, he came across one of the hottest girls he had yet to see in this small town. He ran a tongue over his dry lips before he heard that his order was ready. He turned to grab it without a thank you and immediately made his way over to the table, sitting down in front of the sexy brunette. "I haven't seen you around. New to town?" Leaning back in his chair a little, his face displayed his signature smirk as he waited for her response

"I haven't seen you around. New to town?" I glanced up slightly startled to see someone sitting in front of me. I couldn’t help but mockingly smile back. I was from the heart of New York City and I could read this boy like a book. His high end clothing, his perfectly styled hair and most off all way he sat, cockily leaning back in his chair with a smirk like he owned the place.
“Yeah something like that” I replied vaguely then went back to my application. I probably looked like a complete idiot sitting here with my coach purse and designer heels, applying at this hole in the wall. But that was my business and not his.
I glanced up to see he was still sitting there sipping his coffee, apparently he wasn’t going anywhere soon. I knew guys his type a little too well. Growing up a model I was constantly surrounded by men who were arrogant, checked themselves in the mirror more than I did, and well, just overall highly conceited.
I knew I was suppose to be doing my whole new good girl, super nice act, but old habits die hard. I couldn’t help but mess with his head. I twirled my hair so that my loose curls fell over my right shoulder then gazed up at him with my sparkling brown eyes “Did I say you could sit here?” I knew guys like him always got exactly what they wanted and pretty much every girl that had walked in took notice of him but I wasn’t willing to be that easy.
“And just to be polite” I later added and emphasized on the word polite, because I was pretty sure he didn’t know the meaning of it “I just moved here today from the city” I continued then flashed him my flawless smile. I knew this was going to be the start of a bad idea.
Over the years I had my fair share of “relationships”. Never anything serious or real, mostly flings, but they never ended well. Being a model I knew I was beautiful, I had the body and the picture perfect image. Unfortunately that seemed to only attract the cocky, egotistical, stuck-up men. The nice ones knew they didn’t stand a chance. Good looking people, only dated good looking people, it was almost fact.

"Nah, but I figured you'd ask eventually so I should just cut to the chase." Nate grinned and continued leaning back in his chair. Getting a rise out of people was one of his favourite pasttimes, especially when they were hot and he could tell they were resisting just to play hard to get. "Ah, the city. My favourite playground." He missed it all the time. Small towns often got boring. He hadn't met any incredibly hot girls, until now, and there certainly weren't the same killer parties. He loved roaming those streets at night, doing as he damn well pleased. He still occassionally got away with that, but now his father had more focus on his son. He was determined to make sure he graduated school with amazing grades and took over the hotel so he could continue to buy and open more. In fact, he had already had his son overseeing some things just so that he could leave the small town every once in a while. Well, more than once in a while. His dad seemed to find the place just as boring, but he was allowed to leave, whereas Nathaniel wasn't.
He took another sip of his coffee, still eying the girl carefully. He had always been good at reading those he gave the time of day. She had a Kelly's application on the table in front of her, right next to her coach purse. This meant her parents probably had money, and she had been cut off or she left. Interesting... Perhaps she had daddy issues. Girls that had daddy issues always seemed to be easier to hook up with. "So, Miss. NYC, care to continue being polite?" He smirked. She certainly looked hot enough to be a model, why not give her the nickname.

This guy seemed so damn sure of himself, I just wanted to wipe the smirk off his face. He was probably raised a golden boy in his perfect little family with a silver spoon in his mouth. Least I was here trying to make my money and not rely on daddy, he wouldn’t know what thats like.
“Favorite playground huh? Yea I bet, they probably don’t throw parties here like they do back there. Must suck, drunk girls are so much easier to get” I wasn’t stupid, or blind, I knew any girl would throw herself at him, they’d be stupid not to, but that didn’t matter. I liked to banter with him, plus his ego could be taken down a few notches.
“So, Miss. NYC, care to continue being polite?” I couldn’t help but laugh, the arrogance this guy had. “It’s Aria, how about you be a gentleman and buy a girl a drink” I stated, it wasn’t really a yes or no option. I was after all still waiting for my coffee that the waitress had clearly forgotten. Over his shoulder I could see her standing behind the counter in a daze, starring at the hunk who was sitting with me. As if she even had a chance, boys his kind didn’t go for girls her type.
“What’s a guy like you doing in a town like this?” I asked a little puzzled and hoping the question wouldn’t be returned. I hadn’t seen much of Port Charles yet, but this guy was exactly like me, and we weren’t small town material. I knew I’d eventually find someway to fit in, but it seemed like he couldn’t. I could tell he was bored, I was like an exciting shiny new toy to him.

"They really don't." He agreed, taking another sip of his hot coffee. "Perhaps that'll change with you around though." He gave her a grin that most girls simply couldn't resist. Granted, most of looks were like that for women and he knew it too. "You underestimate me. I don't need alcohol to get women." This was true, he certainly didn't. He had grown up knowing that any girl he wanted he could get. It was probably why he got bored with them so quickly. "The challenge is always the best part." He winked. He was referring to her, and he knew she was well aware of that fact. He also knew that she, like him, knew of her own good looks. There was absolutely no way that she wasn't aware. "What makes you think I'm a gentleman?" He asked, reaching his hand out to wave over help as he spoke. He could hear the waitress practically come rushing over. "Another coffee." He said, still looking directly at Aria. After the waitress realized a please or glance of recognition wasn't coming, she left to get the order.
"I could say the same about a girl like you," he returned. "But anyways, my father owns the Port Charles hotel. I'm here learning about how to take it over." There wasn't much excitement in his voice, but then again, when you went from talking about parties and women to business, it wasn't much of a topic. "And what about you, Aria? What are you doing here?" He said, stressing her name now that he knew it. He figured if she had asked, he might as well get to know her as well. He usually didn't care because he only wanted sex, but hey, he was bored enough to try to learn something about her.

“You’re right the challenge is always the best part, so you should stop seeming so eager” I shot back with my own smirk. He was after all the one who sat down at my table and was still sitting here. He may be irresistible to women, but I was equally irresistible to men. I could have left if I wanted to, but the truth was I was enjoying his company, maybe even a little too much.
“Clearly your not” I said referring to the fact he couldn’t even say please or thank you. Manners weren’t exactly a huge thing in my family either but at least my nanny tried to raise me well. “Didn’t your mom ever teach you your please and thank yous?” I asked innocently.
I was slightly impressed when he said he was learning about how to take over his fathers hotel. I expected it to just be given to him and for him to hire people to do everything. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat as he asked about me. I could take his cocky remarks and shoot them back at him all day, but honesty and opening up to a stranger wasn’t my thing. “I never did catch your name?” I was curious, but I mostly just wanted to change the subject and hope that he doesn’t bring it up again. Though I had a feeling this know-it-all wouldn’t let me get away that easy. But then again, I knew he was just searching for someone to wake-up next to tomorrow, so why bore him and make it complicated with drama. Either way, I didn’t plan on being the playboy bunny in his bed tonight. The last thing I needed was to restart by bad reputation in this new town.

Nathaniel laughed, and then left a simple smile on his face, "fiesty one, are we?" The mood didn't stay like this for long, however, when his mother was brought into the conversation. If there was one thing that could completely change his attitude, it was the subject of one isabella lawrence, the woman who left him at the age of five. "No, she didn't." He said defensively. He saw her reaction though, and quickly tried to change the subject. He took a deep breath and brought the cocky smile back to his face. It was way too soon for spilling secrets, and he wasn't interested in her asking anything that wasn't her business. "Cute, you want to know my name." He teased, leaning back in his chair once again, his confidence having returned as he pushed the previous memories out of his mind.
"Nathaniel." He then said simply. "Or Nathan, or Nate, whichever you prefer beautiful." Laying on the charm would help. He could then watch her work overtime to play hard to get. He enjoyed watching her spit fire retorts at him like she was getting to him. It was amusing, to say the least. "I'm not stupid by the way. I know you're trying to change the subject." He grinned, knowing this was sure to get a reaction from her. She was clearly trying to keep something hidden about her life. "Do you want to tell me now, or save it for pillow talk later?" God, he could be such an arrogant ass sometimes and he knew it, which is probably why he had to stifle a bit of a laugh.

I could tell his mood immediately changed as I mentioned his mother. However, it just as quickly changed back. Finally I hit a sore spot. Obviously it wasn’t something to be proud of, but it was good to know he had a heart. I knew it wasn’t my place to ask, but I began wondering if his whole attitude was simply a cover up for a soft side.
I leaned back in my own chair then glanced him up and down “Yeah you look like a Nathan” I teased with a genuine smile for once. Though of course the light mood didn’t last, he just had to bring up the subject of me again. And I couldn’t believe his remark about pillow talk later, how was this boy ever going to survive when I deny him of his needs. I knew I’d eventually give in, but that wasn’t the point, the point was to stir up his world with the simple word no. It was the best way to get under his skin. Like he said, a challenge is always better. I caught his attention without even trying and they’re weren’t many girls like me. I could toy with him for awhile, he wasn’t gonna give up easily and let me just walk away, he’d be stupid to. Plus boys love what they can’t have.
I leaned back in over the table closely approaching him “And what makes you so sure I’d go home with you?” I whispered in a low teasing voice “What makes you soo special Nathaniel?” I added with a wink. My sex appeal was definitely one of my strengths and I knew exactly how to tempt and tease every boy.

"Do I now?" He inquired, raising an eyebrow. "You look like an Aria, too. Then again, that is your name." He teased. He enjoyed being an arrogant asshole sometimes - okay, more like all the time. He had to laugh that she continued to dodge the subject of why she was in Port Charles. Did she have some shady past she didn't want to talk about? All Nathaniel knew was that it was going to be his mission to find out sooner or later. Not because he cared really, but because it was a challenge. He didn't care about anyone, other than his dad, who he more or less just tried to impress. People were just around, none of them had much importance in his life. "Because I know you'll give in eventually." He grinned devilishly, just as the waitress placed Aria's drink down in front of her.
Ignoring her presense, Nathaniel continued on with their conversation. After all, she was the help. "What makes me so special? You mean other than my charm, good looks, and the fact that I'm incredible in bed?" He enjoyed the fact that she was playing along. It was hot, especially now that she was pulling out all the stops. "Do you actually think that you can resist me?" He gave her a cocky smile as he brought the coffee cup to his lips and took another sip. God, finally something to do around this town.

The waitress briskly placed my coffee on the table then rudely walked away. For a moment I thought it was because of how rude Nate had been, but then I realized she was just jealous. I got a bitchy glare every time she walked by. I felt like I was in high school all over again.
I couldn’t help but laugh as he described himself “I hate to break it to you hotshot, but boys like you are a dime a dozen in the city” Of course I had to leave out the part that I wasn’t in the city anymore, and nor did I plan on going back anytime soon.
Nathan was getting into my head way more than I liked or would ever admit. I was suppose to be staying away from trouble, but of course trouble always finds its way to me. Part of me kept telling myself to get out while I still could, while the other part didn’t want to leave. Apparently the second part was winning. There was just something about him, he was different than others. He played it all cool on the outside, but I knew it was partly an act. He gave up his partly life to come to this, willingly, that right there showed there was way more to him than just looks and arrogance.
“Of course I can resist you, I haven’t jumped your bones yet” I teased, hopefully he couldn’t read through my bullshit. I definitely wanted him, but I was way to stubborn, and there was no way in hell, I was gonna give him the satisfaction of “winning” me.
“I’m a model from New York City, I’ve seen it all before, how does a now small town boy like you plan on blowing my mind?” I instantly regretted the words as soon as they came out of my mouth. Earlier I had purposely left my last name out. I didn’t want to risk ‘Aria Gilmore’ sounding familiar, but now I could have definitely blew it with the model comment. I had to hope for the best, that while he lived in the city he never read any fashion magazines. Though it was obvious he knew style. “Shit” I thought to myself, the last thing I wanted was recognition in this town.

"It's a shame you aren't in the city anymore then, huh?" Nathaniel grinned as he leaned back in his chair. "If you know me so well, you'd know I usually let women come to me. You'll soon find out this place is boring and you need to find fun where you can. I was hoping you would help with that." He gave her a wink, and watched her reaction. She was just too much fun to mess with. "Yet, my dear. You haven't jumped my bones, yet." He grinned in that devilish way that he does, watching as she realized she had set him up perfectly for his response. "Trust me, you will give in soon enough." He couldn't help but continue to smile. He had missed being able to mess with a girl's head like this. He missed New York all the time, but luckily, a little bit of New York had come to him.
"Oh, I'm no small town boy. I've only been here since school started." He then realized what she had told him, and cocked his head to the side in a devious smile. "A model, eh?" She had given him the perfect opportunity to find out more about her without having to wait for her to tell him. He whipped out his cell phone, and began to type in her name; sure, he only had her first name, but it would help some. He now knew that she would have to let him find out her past, or try to distract him from it. God, he loved having the upper hand.

“Women come to you, men come to me” I shrugged like it was no big deal. I knew I could get basically anyone I wanted, but I wasn’t one to run around town toying with boys and breaking their hearts just for the fun of it... well least not anymore...but if he wanted cocky I was gonna give it to him.“Oh I can definitely make your life more exciting” I added in a low whisper with a devilish smile. I figured I wouldn’t give any examples, It was much better to let his mind run wild with his little boy fantasies.
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes when he said I’d give in eventually. Eye-rolling seemed like it was becoming a regular habit around him. However, I suppose he was starting to grow on me. His cocky smile couldn’t help but make me genuinely smile back, something I hadn’t done in awhile. Growing up with my family was more about faking being happy rather than actually being happy.
Once I realized what he was doing on his phone I freaked. Stupid technology I couldn’t help but mutter to myself. I quickly reached over the table and snapped the phone out of his hands. A gesture that was slightly rude for someone he just met, but polite wasn’t his style so why should it be mine. “Really, you plan on googling me, in front of me?” I asked totally annoyed. Quickly the mood changed from light and playful to something a little too tense. But this town was suppose to be my fresh start and how was I suppose to make a good fresh impression on Nate with the past I had. Besides, the internet always had a way of stretching the truth or straight out lying.
“So pretty boy, show a girl how to have a good time in this town” I smiled partly trying to change the subject, though I wasn’t sure he was going to drop this, but also partly curious as to how he planned on keeping my attention.
