The one single day that I have ever been late before had to be the most crucial day. Didn't that just fucking figure... I hoped that Gabriel would be alright, if he wasn't I wouldn't forgive myself. I was only Adelina's bodyguard, but Gabriel was often around, those two were almost always around. I had become somewhat of his bodyguard as well, and I failed him. It was my job just to pick the kids up from school and take them back safely to their home, and not to be on school grounds, but surely I could have saw something. Anything, and maybe saved everyone this trouble and made sure whoever did this wouldn't even think about doing it again. I could have noticed that they were a bit late and went to see what was going on, but instead I was the late one and now the kid was in the hospital. I silently prayed that the doctor would come out here and deliver good news as soon as possible. I saw Sonny notice me, and I knew by the look on his face and in his eyes that I would be paying in some shape. He shouted at me, asking where I was. I would have responded, but there was no excuse. I was late to my job, which is very important. On the single day that I was needed the most.
He made his way over to me, yelling. He had a right to, I had better just not say anything. I'm sure it would only anger him more then me staying silent would. I'm sure neither would receive a positive reaction, but I knew what was coming next. He punched me, hard might I add. I lifted my hand to my cheekbone where it hurt the most. I stayed still for a moment as I let the pain wash over me. I let out a breath but kept my hand to my face. Shit, that hurt. I shouldn't have expected any different, though. "I apologize. There is no excuse." I told him after a moment. "It will never happen again." I told him, but I half expected to be fired if not killed. "If I get, an again, that is." I appreciated this job much more then being a mercenary, and while I still would do those jobs... they weren't my favorite. Being a bodyguard, I was helping people... at least that is what I was suppose to do. Just ten minutes late and a kid is in the hospital, when it was suppose to be on my watch. I doubted Sonny would just let that go, and I really doubted Jason Morgan would. This was his son, and I hoped for his sake that his son would be just fine. I didn't know the extent of Gabe's injuries... but from the looks of people, it was not good. Adelina called out for her father to stop, and she moved between us. I appreciated her comment, but I did not agree. "This is not something that can be easily forgiven." I told Adelina. I didn't expect to be forgiven.
Sonny walked away, and Addy turned to me and spoke. She explained that she didn't blame me for this, and she apologized for her father about hitting me. At this moment it was just throbbing, stinging slightly. Nothing that needed to be worried about, I've taken quite a few hits and I've even been shot. Adelina told me to go get it checked out, and that she would tell me how Gabe was doing. "I will be fine... but I will give you and your family space. I'll just be down the hall." I told her. I probably didn't need to be looming around at a time like this. I wouldn't go far, because as far as I knew I was still employed. I wasn't sure how long that would last, but I'd do my job now that I failed to do earlier. I gave Adelina a quick smile, before I left the room, pressing on my cheekbone slightly. As hard as Sonny hit me I'm surprised he didn't break a bone in his hand. I turned the corner and stood in the hallway, so I could see the doors.
